Beltane & The Bridge Between Archetypes
Honouring The Wild Woman As We Step Into The Heart Led Woman
There is something that happens at the end of April that is hard to put into words.
The month has been fierce. The Wild Woman doesn't do things gently — she doesn't ask, she demands. She pulls you toward the parts of yourself you have been most expertly avoiding and she doesn't let you look away until you've seen what's actually there. If you've been doing this work through April, you will know exactly what I mean. Something has shifted. Something that was buried has surfaced. Something that was quiet has finally found its voice.
And now, right at the edge of the month, we arrive at Beltane.
What Is Beltane — And Why Does It Matter?
Beltane is one of the most powerful festivals in the sacred feminine and Celtic wheel of the year. Celebrated on the 1st of May, it marks the midpoint between the spring equinox and the summer solstice — the moment when the earth tips from awakening into full, abundant bloom. It is a fire festival. A fertility festival. A celebration of desire, of life force, of everything that has been quietly growing underground finally pushing through into the light.
And this year, Beltane arrives with a supermoon. Which means the energy is amplified, the veil between the seen and unseen is thin, and whatever you have been working with through April is ready to be acknowledged, honoured and consciously released so that something new can begin.
This is the threshold moment. And it is not one to rush through.
Honouring What The Wild Woman Asked Of You
Before you step forward into May, I want to invite you to pause here at the threshold and look back at what April held.
The Wild Woman archetype — the fourth woman in the Women of the Wheel framework — is the keeper of your instinct, your rage, your desire and your most authentic untamed nature. She is the part of you that existed before the conditioning. Before you learned to be palatable, manageable, easy to love.
This month she asked you to stop performing. To stop reaching for love and light while abandoning the parts of yourself that live in the shadow. To turn around and face what you have been so spiritually, so elegantly, so exhaustingly avoiding.
So before you move forward — what did you find?
What part of yourself did the Wild Woman return to you this month? What did you finally feel that you had been holding at arm's length? What do you know now that you didn't know in March?
Take a moment with those questions. They matter. The work you did in April is the soil that May grows from.
The Beltane Threshold — Fire, Release & Intention
In Celtic tradition, Beltane was marked by the lighting of great bonfires. Cattle were driven between the flames for protection and blessing. People leapt the fires to cleanse what was old and call in what was new. It was a ritual of conscious transition — a moment of standing between what was and what is coming, and choosing to cross.
You don't need a bonfire to honour this moment, though if you have access to one — light it.
What you do need is intention. A willingness to acknowledge what April gave you, to release what it asked you to leave behind, and to stand consciously at the threshold of something new.
This is Beltane as a sacred feminine practice. This is cyclical living in its most alive and embodied form.
Who Is Waiting On The Other Side?
And so we arrive at May. At the Heart Led Woman.
She is the fifth archetype in the Women of the Wheel — and she is everything the Wild Woman prepared you for.
If April was about reclaiming what lives in you, May is about what you do with it. If April was about coming home to yourself, May is about learning to live from that place.
The Heart Led Woman is not soft in the way you might expect. She has the Wild Woman's fire in her bones. But she has learned something the Wild Woman is still discovering — how to let that fire become love. How to lead from the deepest, most courageous, most radically open part of herself.
She is coming. And she has been waiting for April to do its work first.
Your Invitation
This Beltane, stand at the threshold. Honour the Wild Woman who walked with you through April — the rage she surfaced, the truth she returned to you, the parts of yourself she refused to let you abandon.
And then turn your face toward May.
The Heart Led Woman is ready for you. And after everything April asked of you — you are ready for her.
