The Wild Woman: April’s Archetype

There is a woman inside you that nobody taught you about in school.

She is not polished. She is not particularly interested in being liked. She does not shrink herself to fit the shape of other people’s comfort, and she has never once apologised for the depth of her feeling.

She is the Wild Woman. And April belongs to her.

Who Is She?

The Wild Woman is one of twelve archetypes at the heart of The Women of the Wheel — a framework that moves through the year as a woman moves through herself, one archetype at a time, season by season, layer by layer.

She is not wild in the way the world has taught you to fear. She is not chaotic or reckless or out of control. She is wild in the way that forests are wild. In the way that rivers are wild. Entirely, unapologetically herself — rooted in her own nature, answering to something deeper than expectation or approval.

She is the part of you that existed before you learned to be palatable. Before you discovered that certain feelings were inconvenient, certain desires too large, certain truths better kept quiet. She was there before all of that. And she has been waiting, with extraordinary patience, for you to remember her.

What Does She Represent?

The Wild Woman is the keeper of your instinct. She is the voice that rises in you when something is wrong, even when you can’t explain why. She is the rage that knows its own worth. The grief that refuses to be rushed. The desire that will not be reasoned away.

She represents the parts of yourself that have been most heavily conditioned — most carefully managed, most persistently silenced. Your authentic nature, before the world got to it. Your power, before you learned to make it smaller.

Working with her is not always comfortable. She will not let you bypass the hard things with a gratitude list or a high vibe playlist. She asks for something more honest than that. She asks you to turn toward what you’ve been turning away from — and to find, in that turning, more of yourself than you knew was missing.

What Is She Asking Of You This April?

She is asking you to stop performing.

To stop curating a version of yourself that is easier to love and start getting curious about the version that is true. To let the feelings you’ve been managing actually move through you. To follow your instinct before your conditioning. To take up the space you have been quietly, persistently, exhaustingly making yourself too small to fill.

She is not asking you to burn anything down. She is asking you to stop pretending the fire isn’t there.

How Do You Work With Her?

You begin by listening. By getting quiet enough to hear what she’s been trying to tell you. By asking the questions you’ve been avoiding and staying present long enough to hear the answers.

This is shadow work. This is sacred feminine work. This is the work that actually moves things — not because it is easy, but because it is real.

Every Monday I send out Monday Medicine — a free weekly shadow work prompt and sacred feminine practice for the woman who is ready to stop looking away. If the Wild Woman just stirred something in you, that is exactly where you need to be.

Come and find her. She’s closer than you think.
